Tip of the Week

March, Week of 21/03/22

Tip by Ian Fletcher from the Melbourne Jeep Owners Club (MJOC)

Use a higher gear when climbing steep hills.

This means use low range 3rd or 2nd if very steep to reduce wheel spin and maintain momentum. Keep the revs in the engine sweet spot and maintain steady accelerator. If you use 1st gear to climb a steep hill you will limit the momentum required and cause the wheels to spin and loose traction as well as over rev the engine. You are more likely to get stuck or spin your wheels if you try to climb in 1st gear.
